Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet Launches Tamil Nadu's First AI-Powered Heart (Coronary) Imaging System
Chennai, August 2023:
Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet, one of Tamil Nadu's premier multispecialty healthcare providers, has unveiled a groundbreaking AI-based coronary imaging system named Ultreon OCT-ACR. This cutting-edge technology ensures more accurate and safer angioplasties by offering clearer views of blood vessels and instant guidance during the procedure.
The remarkable system was used for the first time in the state on a 59-year-old man, helping treat a blockage in his right coronary artery. The technology's standout feature is its rapid assessment capability. In the past, determining the severity of a coronary blockage took several minutes, but with the AI assistance of the Ultreon OCT-ACR, this process is cut down to mere seconds.
Dr. Rajaram Ananthraman, the Senior Interventional Cardiologist who spearheaded the use of this technology at Kauvery Hospital, commented on its advantages over traditional methods. He stated, "While coronary stenting has been around since the 1970s, the new AI-powered Ultreon OCT-ACR makes the procedure safer, quicker, and more precise."
Dr. K P Suresh Kumar, Chief Cardiologist at Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet, praised the system's efficiency. "The instant data sharing and real-time guidance of the Ultreon OCT-ACR allows cardiologists to perform even complicated procedures with precision," he noted. He also highlighted a successful operation on a 50-year-old patient, which was showcased live at the TCT-South Asia conference in Mumbai, garnering appreciation from the medical fraternity.
The launch event saw the presence of Dr. Gulio Gualiumi from Milan's St Ant' Ambrogio Hospital. A pioneer in OCT-guided PTCA, Dr. Guilo has been at the forefront of research in Interventional Cardiology.
Highlighting the strides in Cardiology, Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Kauvery Hospitals, remarked, "The integration of AI in healthcare is ensuring more precise and accurate treatments. This latest addition at Kauvery Hospital sets a new standard in cardiological care in Tamil Nadu." He extended his appreciation to Dr. Kumar, Dr. Ananthraman, and the entire team for bringing this state-of-the-art technology to the forefront of cardiac care.
